Artist Bio

Tirzo O. Martinez was born in 1995 to immigrant parents from Monterrey, Mexico who lived in an inner city West side duplex home in San Antonio. He grew up an only child with a hardworking Father and a loving Mother who supported his early education before Kindergarten. Between Elementary and High school, creativity was never more than just a few drawings in the margins of notebooks.

In 2014, at the age of 19, the San Marcos Float Festival delivered a mesmerizing display (of musical performances) that drew his attention to the Art world. This opened the door to creativity and self-expression. Within the year, he switched majors at UTSA and later graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree.

Today, Tirzo O. Martinez creates to encourage the disheartened to pursue their dreams without considering criticisms. He uses his round-like character, Zito, to represent the vessel of the human condition. Using the ≤ ≥ (Less Than/Equal To and Greater Than/Equal To) symbols as the eyes, he strives to exhibit the ever-present judgment that humans carry and that people will always see. Pushing people to follow their gut and be themselves regardless of what people think!
